December 2011

Plans are now in place for our next visit to Ghana. In March 2012 we will be heading north to Kumbungu to kit out the new workshop. We have been donated a number of hand operated sewing machines and a few industrial overlockers which will soon be sailing over to await our arrival. We have been working with And Albert and Matthew and Jessie from "Buttons for Africa" to produce a range of fantastic textile products that will hit the shops later in the year.

August 2011

The new workshop  building in Kumbungu, Northern Ghana is now complete and secure - We now need to kit it with work tables and benches, sewing machines and all of the other goodies needed to begin working there.
We are hoping to travel early next year to get it all started.

Wow what an amazing trip. It was a bit of a tough one - camping, 50C heat, hours packed in a small bus on bumpy roads but worth every second of "discomfort" for the amazing experiences. I have put some pictures in the gallery.

19th October 2009

We have unfortunatley had to postpone our trip to Ghana until the new year. The flood water is still to high to allow us easy passage to Singha village where we were hoping to construct a playground and also set up a weaving and sewing workshop. It's not easy getting to Singha at the best of times. It's an hour drive down a bad dirt track, a 10 minute river crossing by dugout canoe and then 7 miles through the bush into the village, we usually hire men with motorbikes for this section of the journey.  At the moment the river crossing is a 3 hour trip each way, making it a 4 hour journey at best.  It would make it very difficult to get all the things needed to the village.
We considered trying to make a start in November and returning in the new year to compete the work but decided it was wiser to postpone.
